The global transition towards sustainable energy and climate solutions is creating new opportunities for biomass-based technologies. Innovations in biochar, waste-to-energy systems, and carbon removal solutions are playing an important role in building a circular and low-carbon economy.
Prof. Sonal K. Thengane, Faculty at IIT Roorkee and Technical Advisor at Soham Carbon Innovators, recently delivered an invited talk at the 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Bio-Energy Research (ICRABR 2025), organised by SSS-NIBE, Kapurthala, Punjab, from 6–9 October 2025.
During the conference, Prof. Thengane shared his insights on:
“Biochar Market, Credits, and Projects”
as part of the technical session on “Biomass Resource Management and TEA/LCA”.
The session highlighted some of the most important aspects shaping the future of the bioenergy sector:
• Development of sustainable biochar markets
• Carbon credit opportunities through biomass conversion
• Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) for commercial projects
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for measuring environmental impact
• Scalable biomass resource management solutions
Prof. Thengane also chaired the poster session on “Biomass Conversion Technologies”, where young researchers and professionals presented innovative ideas focused on the future of renewable energy and sustainable biomass utilisation.
At Soham Carbon Innovators, we are proud to have Prof. Sonal K. Thengane as our Technical Advisor. His expertise in biochar, waste-to-energy technologies, and biomass conversion strengthens our vision of developing scientifically validated and industrially scalable carbon solutions.
Our mission is to transform agricultural residues and biomass waste into valuable resources through advanced pyrolysis technologies, enabling:
• High-quality biochar production
• Carbon removal and carbon credit solutions
• Sustainable waste management
• Bio-oil and syngas recovery pathways
• Circular economy solutions for industries and agriculture
Participation and knowledge exchange at global platforms like ICRABR 2025 reinforce the importance of connecting research excellence with real-world implementation.
At Soham Carbon Innovators, we continue our journey towards building sustainable technologies that convert today’s biomass challenges into tomorrow’s climate solutions.
